Tamakkan to hold ‘Inspire’ seminar for entrepreneurs

Tamakkan, an organization aimed at supporting entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs, kicks off its spring seminar series on March 29 at Mamoura Auditorium with a new operational model that emphasizes the monthly seminars and supporting ‘boot camp’ courses for small business owners.

The next Tamakkan seminar will focus on social marketing tools for small businesses and a case study presentation of the online business success story Newzglobe.com.

As part of a reorganization, Tamakkan is introducing short full day courses alongside its monthly evening seminar programme to provide great supporter to SME growth.

“For the last two years Tamakkan’s focus has been solely the monthly free seminar, but for a long time entrepreneurs have been asking us to provide a more substantive educational and informational platform. Now the short Tamakkan Grow courses will hopefully provide that service,” said Sana Bagersh, Founder of Tamakkan.

“We believe that small and medium businesses are the lifeline of growing economies, and catalysts for economic and social empowerment. We hope that Tamakkan contributes to the infrastructure that supports and nurtures SME growth in the UAE,” she added.

Tamakkan’s next session on March 29 will feature Meraj Syed, the CEO and Founder of Newzglobe.com, who launched his successful news website in his native Sweden in 2005 and saw it grow to become one of the country’s top online companies. Meraj will talk about what he’s learned as an entrepreneur, the challenges he has had to overcome along the way and his strategies for Newzglobe’s expansion in the Middle East and Asia.

At the same seminar social media experts Ali Manek and Abbas Aldina of Logicks.com will present a session on the ways an entrepreneur can leverage Facebook for business success. Their presentation will provide pointers on how to establish a professional corporate presence, how to engage a community around a company’s products and services, as well as how to target specific demographic groups.

In addition educationist Grant Regan will use audience participation to introduce a new and experimental concept in global entrepreneurship that involves collaboration and exploiting synergies.

As part of Tamakkan’s new growth strategy, the organization has extended its focus to include ‘intrapreneurs;’ a group defined as individuals employed in corporations and organizations that have to use ‘entrepreneurship skills’ to create and develop specific business units.

Tamakkan was launched in June 2009 by BrandMoxie, a leading marketing company based in Abu Dhabi, and is supported by a network of public and private enterprises in the UAE, including Aldar, John Buck International, Taqaddum and Jones the Grocer.

The knowledge sharing is made possible through the contribution of academicians and professionals who share their insight and experiences as part of their contribution to, and engagement with, the community. Admission to all Tamakkan seminars is free and registration can be made through BrandMoxie or the Tamakkan.org website.
