Freya Jaffar

Abu Dhabi Q&A: 28,000+ members

Freya Jaffar is the creator of Facebook groups Abu Dhabi Q&A and Fashion & Lifestyle Abu Dhabi. Both have grown to become the most active and engaging social media groups in AD with a combined 34,000+ members.

Freya comes from a creative background and graduated from the prestigious London College of Fashion in Fashion Design and Technology. She went on to work for Jemima Khan Ltd – a fashion business in London. This opportunity also led her to experience working for the charity Imran Khan Cancer Appeal (IKCA) – a cancer hospital in Pakistan that provides free cancer treatment. Freya also helped set up the Jalozai Camp Appeal for Jemima Khan where over 1500 Afghan refugee families were provided with emergency shelter.

Freya is of Pakistani heritage but born and raised in London. She has been living in AD for the last 9 years with her family. Her exposure to both the western and eastern cultures and her ability to connect to people, has resulted in achieving an unparalleled social media platform for the residents of Abu Dhabi.

Gina is an American from a town half way between St. Louis, Missouri and Memphis, Tennessee which means one thing: She is a expert on BBQ. Her other love includes creating social good. A graduate of the University of Massachusetts Boston with a B.A. in Community Development and a Masters in Critical & Creative Thinking/Social Innovation. Gina loves innovation that makes a difference. In the USA, Gina developed a non-profit which taught college girls thinking skills. Gina also taught Critical & Creative Thinking/Innovation.

In the UAE, Gina has developed four Facebook groups with a following of 60,000 members. FreeCycle Abu Dhabi: encourages reuse, recycle, rehoming by posting a pic of the things they no longer want or need on FreeCycle. FreeCycle has over 25,000 members in Abu Dhabi and was created in 2014.

UAE Housemaids: Connects housemaids and sponsors for employment, educates on UAE labor laws, promotes fair treatment of housemaids, a platform for Q&A. UAE Housemaids has over 15,000 members. It is a secret group which is only visible to members. It was established in 2014.

Abu Dhabi Kids: Discussion of topics related to children, events for children, the sharing of ideas and the sale of second-hand kids products. The group has over 6,000 members and was established in 2015.

Khalifa City Community: is an open group that is used as a community posting board. The group has 10,000 members.

Founder of Hendall Digital and The Learning Curve Podcast. Nicholla Henderson Hall is a social media knowledge guide for small businesses, helping women in Business cut through the noisy social media space to make the right media choices for their businesses. The Learning Curve Podcast shares audio interviews with Women Entrepreneurs in the Middle East. She has interviewed over 90 women over the last 2 years.  She’s been running Facebook Groups since 2010 and loves to create community and brainstorm for new ideas. Her largest group called ‘Muscat – Where Can I Find?’ has 44, 000 members.


Esraa Rothman

Esraa is the owner of the Instagram account expatmom_uae which now has over 12,000 followers. She is also the founder and CEO of Moms Guide Abu Dhabi, a non-profit organization whose main goals is to build and support family and community life in the Abu Dhabi region.

Sudanese-American working mom of three beautiful children aged 8, 5, and 1. She’s free spirited and known as an idea curator. Her brain moves faster than her body can go. A laid back chic that walks around with that stereotypical hippie vibe. She is never afraid to give you her unsolicited opinion about gentle parenting. Esraa has been actively oversharing her motherhood and parenting stories on social media since 2008.

Other than her social media hat. Esraa works in New York University Abu Dhabi in their Research Institute. She earned her MPH from the University of Virginia and her interest lies in women empowerment. In 2009, she was given an honorable mention by Nicholas Kristof in his book “Half the Sky”. Esraa was the 2007 Center for Global Health Scholar and at different prestigious non-government organizations such as PAI, UNFA, UNDP, Planned Parenthood Federation of America, and Habitat for Humanity.

Esraa earned her MPH in 2007 with a concentration in Epidemiology and Research. Esraa’s Moms Guide is the go-to source of inspiration for hundreds of moms & businesses in Abu Dhabi.
